Director Carl Amor is one half of the Australian marine industry’s most famous duo. As the elder brother, Carl is responsible for much of the brands success – marketing Aqualuma and their underwater lights internationally.

He’s always had a deep understanding of business, marketing and technology, having started his career in the automotive industry more than 25 years ago. A motor trimmer by trade, Carl owned first a motor trimming and panel beating business, then a marine trimming business for 18 years. During this time, he loved nothing more than “mucking around with cars and boats”, which led him to discover the world of underwater lighting.

Carl is famous for business acumen, friendly demeanour and is renowned as being “switched on” – an imperative trait in the lighting industry.  

It is Grant’s insatiable hunger for learning about underwater lights that has resulted in Aqualuma creating the most technologically advanced lights in the business. It all started when Grant and Carl were looking for underwater lights for their own boat – and weren’t happy with what was available on the market.

So began Grant’s quest for knowledge and researching underwater lights took over his life. His research took him to New York where he made a list of what he and Carl thought was wrong with underwater lights and what they didn’t like about the ones already on the market, with problems such as corrosion, leaking seals, heat and power consumption. Grant learnt the ins and outs of LEDs and LED technology and quickly became an expert through his insatiable desire for knowledge.

When Carl and Grant aren’t taking on the world of underwater lighting, a light at a time, they enjoy family time on their boat. The brothers also “relax” by restoring classic cars, a reflection of their attention to detail. Some of their projects have included restoring Aston Martins, Rolls Royce, Ferrari and Porsche; however nowadays they predominately restore and collect American classics.

Marty has been part of the Aqualuma team since its inception and has been instrumental in Aqualuma’s success, working closely with Grant on product development. Marty has an extensive automotive engineering background, having managed the service departments of several major Ford dealerships.

Marty particularly enjoys the hands-on culture of Aqualuma and is an important and valued member of the team. he is heavily involved in the design and creation of new products and is renowned for thinking outside of the square. This complex understanding of mechanics is exemplified in his designs for Aqualuma’s revolutionary thru hull fitting. 

As the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Aqualuma in the United States of America, Alex is a key member of the team and responsible for building Aqualuma’s dominance in the highly competitive American market.

Based out of the marine industry hotspot of Fort Lauderdale, Alex has a long history of working with underwater lights and marine electronics. Prior to joining the Aqualuma team, Alex worked for a couple of different underwater light manufacturers. But, upon discovering Aqualuma and their superior lights, she knew she had no other choice than to make the move and work for the market leader.

Alex is a true citizen of the world, fluent in French and conversational Italian (as well as, of course, English). Directors Carl and Grant feel extremely privileged and honoured to work with Alex and consider her a vital member of their team.
